RTO Odisha: Functions and Vehicle Registration

How to register a Motor Vehicle in Odisha? 

RTO Odisha offers both temporary and permanent registration of vehicles in the state. It is mandatory for every vehicle owner to register the vehicle with RTO Odisha.

Temporary registration is provided by the vehicle dealer when a person buys a new vehicle. The owner of the new vehicle fills an application form for temporary RC and submits it along with all the required documents with the dealer. The dealer, in turn, submits the form and the documents with the relevant RTO Odisha. A temporary registration number is provided which is valid for 1 year.

Permanent registration of the vehicle needs to be done with RTO Odisha within a year of issuance of temporary registration. The application form along with the required documents need to be submitted at the RTO. Applicable fee needs to be paid.

Required documents for Vehicle Registration in Odisha

The following documents are required to register your vehicle with RTO Odisha.

  • Application made in Form 20.
  • Sales certificate in Form 21 provided by the dealer.
  • Road worthiness certificate in Form 22 provided by the manufacturer.
  • Vehicle Insurance Certificate.
  • Form 34 in case the vehicle has been purchased by loan.
  • For trailer or semi-trailer vehicle, design approval document by State Transport Commissioner is required.
  • Age and address proof documents of the vehicle owner.
  • Passport sized photographs of the vehicle owner.
  • Custom clearance certificate in case of imported vehicle.

The road taxes and the application fee needs to be paid at the RTO. The registration number is issued to the vehicle after document verification.

How to re-register vehicle in Odisha? 

If a vehicle owner is permanently shifting to Odisha, it is mandatory for him/her to re-register the vehicle with RTO Odisha. The documents required for the same are as follows.

  • Age and address proof of the vehicle owner.
  • Pollution Under Control Certificate.
  • Application in Form 27.
  • Form 29, 33 and 30.
  • NOC provided by the loan financier in case the vehicle has been bought by loan.
  • Vehicle insurance certificate.
  • Passport sized photographs of the vehicle owner.
